There's something hauntingly harrowing about losing a final. On hindsight, things might have been done very differently, clinging on to the hope that the result would perhaps turn out for the better. United were simply overawed by the occasion and didn't turn up. It's in their DNA to look forward though, to set things right the next season and though there isn't anything immediate to look towards for now, perhaps the mid season break might do the team a whole lot of good.

I was looking up on the city ticker banner (033/4 years) because we'll be playing city tomorrow when I came across the F.E.A.R (For Every manc A Religion) banner and I learnt that it was a reference to Ian Brown's song F.E.A.R.

Ian Brown was the leading front man of the Manchester band The Stone Roses whom were a major influence in the Madchester movement, a style of alternative rock that mixed acid house rhythms with guitar pop sounds in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Bands from Manchester have been my thing, I love Oasis (even though they support city) and I like a few songs from the Smiths, so I decided to check F.E.A.R out.

"The song incorporates a creative lyric scheme where each verse forms the acrostic "F.E.A.R." (For example, "For each a road" and "Fallen empires are ruling")"

That sounded really interesting and the song is pretty good in my opinion. Though I could just be biased since Brown's an ardent red and I'm sure it's not everyone's kinda thing.

While also looking up on the banners I realised too that Old Trafford plays another song from the Stone Roses "This Is The One" before the game, though arguably not quite as epic as Liverpool's "You'll never Walk Alone" (ugh) or West Ham's "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" it's a pretty good song that has been adopted by United from a band formed in Manchester and something we could very much call our own. I've seen it in a couple of United youtube videos and wondered what the significance was, well now I know.

Must go to Old Trafford one day.

ohkay it's time to blog properly before I forget completely how to string sentences together.

This mini break's been awesome, it's been a long while since I've felt like I've got the time to sleep and wake up whenever I want and spend time with people without thinking of work the day before or after while having time for myself, playing my absolute of a beauty wine (not champagne, tammie) red electric guitar's been a real joy as well.

Shopping was great fun, I'm really tempted to do it a whole lot more often. There's a slight similarity between seeing your fpl midfielder of 4.5 points do well consistently over the season and pulling out an awesomely designed shirt that costs less than everything else on the market. Not too much too soon though, I still love my old comfy stuff! Rotation can be a real headache too just ask rafa :p

I'm tempted to stay up for the world cup qualifiers to see how it all pans out but I dont think I'll push it, it'd be crummy waking up late and realising ive got to go to work in the next few hours...

im doing this because just like how you are, im pretty awful at things like these too, it wouldnt have been something new or wah wah that i would have said, and i very much run the risk of exacerbating things, and so it's just all about being doing what we can and what we know is best. it's a far cry for an analogy but some players just arent meant to be on hot streaks running down the wing being all dazzling with flair in toll, doing it all and getting past every single player on the other team. making a simple pass to someone else whom you know definitely has got more ability to make things better is as important, if not much more. so just by doing that all day you've done a great job, you know who the targetman is and it's quite impossible to not find him, he's everywhere!

and like how it's been across the weekend, it's really the last moments before the final whistle that counts the most, that can turn a loss into victory and im glad that's how it is, and that you know that despite it all, the 3 points are safe and secured and that it's all about going back to the very top of the league and that's all that matters really.

I love how this song sounds so fanfare and anthemn-like at the start, I love how Noel Gallagher (Liam's brother) sings this beautifully, providing exactly the kind of smooth melodious voice that's needed for a song like that, something the more rock and roll sneering Liam (who's seen drinking in the background midway through the video) can never do, I love the fun everyone's in the entire room's having, just bopping around and singing along, celebrity or not. I love how the song ends off on a high with "She loves you, yeah yeah yeah" ironically reminding me that really, that doesnt quite matter,

and I love how since God is love, what we ALL really need, is God.

I've got this song on my ipod now, thanks to youtube downloader (absolutely awesome stuff) and I think the girl in 0:25 of the video looks pretty in a dreamy brit girl next door kinda way :D

gritty guitar melody riffs, an uncompromising bass line, complete with Liam Gallagher's crass, less than silky vocals, this is distinctively working class british music at its unsubtle, genuine best.

The energy never fails to get me going and i hope you enjoy it as much as i do, there's even a super drum solo in this one =)
